The weather and fishing has been absolutely great the last few weeks! As spring rolls in so do a lot of spring species including Cobia which is one of my favorite ways to fish here in the Lowcountry! I have been doing a lot of family spring break trips in the 22 Pathfinder throwing light tackle which has been very productive fishing with mixed bag days of Redfish, Trout, Flounder, and Blue Fish, along with a few sharks here and there. Love watching kids learn about fishing and most of all love that smile when they catch there biggest fish of the day!
Also have been doing a lot of fly fishing in the Maverick HPX-S mostly fishing low tides the last few weeks. Always love early spring when sight fishing because you get to watch all the low tide flats come back to life after a cold winter. Will start fishing Flood Tides for tailing fish next week and super excited to get back into the grass again!
The Cobia are here!! Looked yesterday and clients had shots at 3 different fish cruising the service as we were sight fishing in the Broad River. Just couldn’t get the fly where it needed to be but thats part of learning for new salt water anglers! Now until the end of June I will spend time looking if the weather is right and very excited that the 2015 Cobia Season is finally here!! Stay tuned after the next 2 months for a spring fishing report.
